Anthony Beeler
Best Pool Instructor in American Billiards History

Anthony Beeler has been selected as the Best Pool Instructor in American History, honoring a career distinguished by instructional innovation, championship-level playing ability, international reach, published scholarship, and a lifelong commitment to helping players understand and perform the game at a higher level.
Beeler is one of the most highly credentialed instructors in American billiards. He is a PBIA Master Instructor, an ACS Level 4 Master Instructor, and a member of the ACS National Instructors Board. He also helped co-author the ACS instructor manual, contributing directly to the education, certification, and professional development of other billiards instructors.
His influence extends far beyond the traditional classroom. Through the Virtual Billiard Academy, Beeler has reached more than 31,000 students in all 50 states and 102 countries, creating one of the broadest instructional footprints in the history of the sport. His programs combine structured lesson plans, detailed video analysis, personalized feedback, technical training aids, and long-term student support.
Beeler’s teaching is grounded in both education and high-level competitive experience. He won the 2013 BCAPL National 9-Ball Championship, the 1999 Kentucky State 9-Ball Championship, six regional titles, and recorded five Top-25 national finishes. His established Fargo Rating has exceeded 700, giving him one of the strongest competitive résumés among America’s leading professional instructors.
His background as a career educator has also shaped his instructional approach. With more than 25 years of experience in public education, Beeler understands how students learn, retain information, diagnose mistakes, and build lasting skills. Rather than relying solely on demonstrations, he breaks complex concepts into clear, repeatable steps that players can understand and apply under pressure.
Beeler has developed numerous instructional systems and training products, including the Vision Center Trainer, Cut Shot Angle Calculator, Stroke Trainer Mat, Pro-Alignment Mirror, Pro-Alignment Trainer, Stance Trainer, and other tools designed to make invisible elements of the game easier to see and measure. His instruction emphasizes vision-center alignment, stroke mechanics, aiming, cue-ball control, position play, mental performance, and purposeful practice.
As an author and billiards journalist, Beeler has contributed extensively to the sport’s instructional literature. His articles have appeared in Billiards Digest, Billiards Buzz, SPM Billiards Magazine, and other publications. He is also the author of Do You Want to Play Like a Pro?, a comprehensive instructional book examining the physical, strategic, and mental elements required for advanced play.
Beeler’s work has earned major recognition within the billiards industry. He was named SPM Billiards Magazine Instructor of the Year in 2017 and later received its Instructor of the Decade Award for 2010–2020. His academy has also been recognized by Pool & Billiard Magazine as one of the nation’s top places to receive professional instruction.
His influence can be seen in the success of his students and fellow instructors. Beeler has trained recreational players, national champions, business leaders, coaches, and aspiring professional instructors. Several instructors he mentored later earned advanced PBIA or ACS recognition, reinforcing his reputation as a true “teacher of teachers.”
Few instructors have matched Beeler’s combination of educational expertise, competitive credibility, international reach, technical innovation, professional credentials, and published contributions. For these achievements and his lasting influence on how pool is taught, Anthony Beeler is recognized as the Best Pool Instructor of America’s first 250 years.
